2、opowerstationsontheriver.Ienjoyedthosetrips,especiallythetriptoLongyangXiareservoir.Althoughtenyearshavepassedsincemyvisit,Icanstillrecallthescenery;IcanstillrecallthewaterIsawatthereservoir.Itwaspure,cleanandblue,notlikethewaterIsawinthemiddlereachesoftheriver,whichhadturnedbrownandmuddyafterpas

3、singthroughtheLoessPlateau.　　Onceduringourstayatthepowerstation,wewerecaughtinathunderstorm.Andwhenrainstopped,Icouldseetricklesofwaterrollingdownmountainslopesandflowingintothereservoir.Itcarriedlittlemudorsand,becauseatthattime,treesandgrassstillgrewaroundthereservoir.Andtheyprotectedthesoil.At

4、LongyangXiaIwasstruckbythebeautyofnature,andasachildIwantedtostaythereandtogrowupwithourYellowRiver.　　LiBai,theTangDynastypoet,saidpraisestotheflowingwaterintheYellowRiver.Hesawitascomingdownfromheavenandnurturingthepeoplealongherwaytothesea.However,in1997,for330days,notasingledropofwaterfromtheY

5、ellowRiverwentintothesea.Anddroughtsarenottheonlypunishmentbynature.Afriendofmyfather's,auniversityprofessor,isdoingresearchontheYellowRiver.Accordingtothisprofessor,theYellowRiverwillsoonchangeitscourseifweallowthissituationtocontinue.Becausethereisnolongerenoughwatertocarryawaythesiltandmudinth

6、elowerreachesoftheriverandtheriverbedriseshigherandhighereachyear.　　Wehavetakentoomuchfromnature,butgivenbacktoolittleinreturn.Andthisisthecostoftheunbalancedgrowth.IfwehadtakencareofthevegetationintheupperandmiddlereachesoftheYellowRiver,wewouldstillexperiencetheriverasLiBaidescribedit.　　Whileth

7、edevelopedcountriesareconsumingproportionallymorenaturalresourcesthantherestoftheworld,they'vealsotakensomegoodmeasuresinprotectingnature.Andasadevelopingcountry,Chinacanlearnfromtheminthisaspect.　　Lastyear,whenIwasvis
