2、canbesignificantlyalteredinacontrolledfashionbyexternalstimuli,suchasstress,temperature,pH,moisture,electricormagneticfields.AnelastomercomprisingamatrixinterspersedwithmicronsizedferromagneticparticlesisknownasaMagnetorheologicalElastomer(MRE).Therheologicalpr
3、opertiesofMREs(thedeformationandflowbehaviourunderstress)arealteredbytheapplicationofanexternalmagneticfield.Thecharacteristicresponsewillbeinfluencedbymanyfactorsincluding;theelastomermatrix,thesize,distribution,compositionandpercentagevolumeoftheferromagnetic
4、particles,andwhethertheferromagneticparticlesarealignedinchainsorrandomlydispersed.Areviewispresentedinthispaperoftherheologicalpropertiesofmagnetorheologicalelastomersandhowthesepropertiesareaffectedbyvaryingmagneticfieldsandtheindicatedcompositionalparameters

6、rtmaterialsareclassifiedasmaterialsthathavetheabilitytochangeoneormoreoftheirmaterialpropertiesundertheinfluenceofanexternalstimulant.Materialpropertiescanbecontrolledbymanyexternalfactors,includingapplicationofstress,pHlevel,moisturecontent,electricfieldsorint
7、hecaseofMREs,magneticfields.Commonexamplesofsmartmaterialsarememoryshapealloysandpiezoelectricmaterials.Magnetorheologicalmaterials,similarinprincipletoelectrorheologicalmaterials,havetheirviscoelasticandrheologicalpropertiesalteredinthepresenceofamagneticfield
