6、thatthedegreeofexpressedmotivationisthesinglemostpowerfulinfluenceonthechoiceoflanguagelearningstrategies;highmotivatedlearnersusemorestrategiesrelatingtoformalpractice,functionalpracticeandconversationalinputelicitationthandopoorlymotivatedlearners.Afterstudy
7、ingthereasonsthatadultstudentslearnEnglishforcareerattheUSForeignServiceInstitute,Ehrman(1990)pointsoutthataninstrumentalmotivationcanresultinapreferenceforcommunicative-orientedstrategies.RodEllis(1997)findsthatthestrengthoflearners’motivationcanbeexpectedtoh
